We recommend flying into Rio de Janeiro’s international airport, Galeão – Antônio Carlos Jobim International Airport (GIG), which is approximately 20 minutes from downtown Rio and Copacabana.
Some domestic flights may also arrive at Santos Dumont Airport (SDU), which is even closer to the city center. However, international travel to SDU is more complex, as it typically requires first entering Brazil through another airport and then connecting via a domestic flight.
Please note that some passports require a visa to enter Brazil. Be sure to check the "Planning Your Trip" section for guidance on whether you need to apply for a visa in advance.
